The F4U-4 Corsair was a commission project for Burt Avedon who flew in the “Marianas Turkey Shoot” with VF6. I met Burt at the 1982 CAF air show in Harlingen, Texas where I was marketing my aircraft prints. I was surprised when Burt approached me to do his aircraft and portrait when there were representatives for Keith Ferris, Frank Wootton and other top aviation artists at the air show. The snap shots are scans of the Instamatic Polaroids I had taken and sent Burt to show my progress. The pilot group photo is what I worked from to do Burt’s portrait. |
